MAY'S GUINEA PIG OF THE MONTH--Chocolate Eclair!

$413.23 raised so far!! WE REACHED OUR GOAL!

UPDATE: We have an offer of a matching gift of $75! If you donate $75, your gift will go twice as far!

Meet Chocolate Eclair from

Five year old Chocolate Eclair (or Clair, for short) came into the rescue with three other elderly guinea pigs shortly after Christmas of 2011.  They were given up because the children in their family had gotten older and were no longer interacting with them.  The mom in the family fed them and the dad cleaned the cage every week but they didn't receive any additional attention for months.  Clair had possibly the worst case of bumblefoot I had ever seen.  This isn't something that cropped up suddenly.  It had slowly developed over many painful months.

I knew she was in agony when she arrived because she was skinny, her eyes were glassy and she was extremely reluctant to move.

We got her to the vet later that day.  He agreed that due to the severity of the infection, there was bone involvement and this was no doubt going to be a chronic and complicated condition to treat.

Within a few days of being on metacam for pain and swelling, she was becoming very difficult to catch so we knew she was feeling better.  She was also trying to dominate her cage mate which was a very good sign and after a few weeks, she started to gain weight.

She has betadine food soaks twice daily, a dose of metacam once daily for pain, silver sulfadiazine cream for the bottom of her foot, and periodic use of the antibiotic baytril as recommended by her vet.  She has monthly vet visits to monitor her condition.

We estimate the cost of her care to be approximately $80 per month.

SAGP will be fundraising for four months of Clair's care, meaning a goal of $320. Please donate or pass along Clair's story!

APRIL'S GUINEA PIG OF THE MONTH-Ollie!

$530.29 or 400.10 pounds raised so far! WOO HOO WE MADE OUR GOAL!

UPDATE: We have a person willing to match a $75 donation! If you make a $75 donation, your dollars will be doubled!

UPDATE: MATCH MADE. Thanks to both parties!

Meet Ollie
from UK Rescue

Ollie is around a 14 months old and has many problems. He has no bottom incisors, so his top ones grow at an enormous rate, he is unable to close his mouth properly and also has a heart problem.

Despite his many little difficulties he is game to try anything and is great at escaping from his pen. He has been in TC Rescue for around 6 months and has gained weight during that that time and is blossoming out into a real character. He often visits other piggies or goes walk about on the floor. Ollie needs to visit the vet every 6 weeks or so to trim his teeth and make sure that the back teeth are still okay. I can keep the incisors trimmed between visits but am unable to do his molars myself.Ollie also needs at least two feeds of critical Care per day and all his veg cut up into batons. He also needs his heart meds daily. He was a dirty, skinny little lad when he first arrived and while he will never be a big rounded piggy he is doing just fine.

We are hoping to raise $275 or 207.41 pounds. Please donate, and share Ollie's story!

MARCH'S GUINEA PIG OF THE MONTH--Blizzy!

$396 raised so far! WE MET OUR GOAL AND RECEIVED THE MATCH DONATION!

Total raised: $746!!

Meet Blizzy
from CA Rescue

Blizzy is a very sweet, four year old guinea pig with a heart condition, and a bladder stone caught in her urethra. Actigall has only made the stone shrink somewhat. The rescue is extremely worried about a snowball effect resulting from the sludge and creating a blockage.

Blizzy can see a different vet than her normal one to attempt to reduce the blockage, but this procedure, including xrays, will cost close to $700.

SAGP has never attempted to raise this amount of money for a guinea pig before, but we have a little help. Blizzy has a guardian angel who is willing to donate $350, provided we raise another $350 to match it.

Can Blizzy count on your help, too?

FEBRUARY'S PIG OF THE MONTH--Snowstorm!

$395 raised! We have met our goal!

Meet Snowstorm

from BC, Canadian Rescue

Who's that beautiful girl with the crest, and her fur blowing in the wind?

It's Snowstorm!!

Snowstorm is a lethal white who came to the rescue with severe mites, weighing about half of her present weight. She would squeal in pain, but she's all better now!

Here is Snowstorm lounging with some friends in Pigtown. All the other ladies in her cage respect her.

Snowstorm is our first Canadian Piggy, and she loves her country, and rescue!

Snowstorm only has one front tooth, which makes it hard for her to eat her food. The rescue carefully chops things up for her to eat.

She came to the rescue when her owners could no longer care for her, and the rescue was kind enough to take her in.

Snowstorm also chirps!

This month my goal is to raise $10 for every day in February--and it's a leap year, so that puts us at $290 US and Canadian Dollars.

PLEASE donate below, and thank you so much for helping Snowstorm!

JANUARY'S PIG OF THE MONTH--Pootle!

$265.50 raised so far! WE HAVE MET OUR GOAL!

Meet Pootle

from TX Rescue

Pootle has problems!

Pootle has a middle ear infection, confirmed by an x-ray. She is a furry skinny who came to the rescue during their Global Exotics seizure in February of 2010.

We are fundraising to help cure her very painful ear infection, and help TX Rustlers recoup some of the costs they have spent treating it.

Pootle is getting the very best of care right now, staying at the rescue director's house.

The antibiotic for Pootle is $45, the x-ray $75, and the check-up is $40, for a total of $160. I'm going to add on another $90 to our goal, for a total of $250, in case her ear infection returns.

Please consider making a donation for Pootle!

Thank you for being an advocate for those who cannot help themselves.
